A Punk Rock Devil Show

Five bands, five bucks, the Hideaway Bar. Bargain!

We headed in and caught What You’re Made Of slam a set of So Cal, Nu School punk. The Penrith band said this was their second Hideaway show. The band had great drone melodies and shared the vocals between all four members. Another, new Sydney band we’ll be checking out again.

“We’re here to disappoint” was the opening line from Automatic Heroes as they ripped into a set of good, old fashioned skate punk with beautiful buzzsaw guitar with a hard hitting rhythm section. They took us back to the days of when Mass Appeal, the Space Juniors, Depression, and the Insane Hombres were playing skate parks all over Australia.

Buck Shot were up next with a set that was a set of songs that had roots in hard core, cosmic sludge rock, doom metal, and punk. Joking with them about the last time we saw them, and mentioning they’d not been able to rehease of late, they nailed it. Buck shot need to be seen.

Goth post punk band RK Ally were next belting out their tracks with an extremely animated vocalist, a tight and melodic rhythm section, and an amazing guitarist who could’ve been at home playing any number of styles.

It is with great regret that we missed Blank Display’s set. Our mates told us they ripped it up and we will be checking them out soon.
